GIAS: Saving Animals, Serving Community

ABOUT

GIAS

The mission statement of the Grosse Ile Animal Shelter and The Grosse Ile ACO is: We strive to provide an exceptional level of service to the citizens that reside here and in the humane treatment of all animals.

The Grosse Ile Animal Shelter is under the jurisdiction of the Grosse Ile Police Department.  The shelter houses stray and surrendered pets to prepare them for adoption.

Only Grosse Ile residents may surrender pets to the Grosse Ile Animal Shelter. A surrender appointment MUST be made by calling 734-469-7145.

Strays must be picked up by Animal Control at your residence or the location where stray was found, or brought to the shelter during open hours. We are not able to house surrendered animals from other communities.

If you need assistance when the shelter is closed, please call the NON-EMERGENCY dispatch at The Grosse Ile Police Department 734-676-7100.
